random thoughts

Wow has this school year been busy. and flown by! i can't believe it is already thanksgiving break. i'm in my first block right now, we don't have anything to today. or typically everyday. i normally work on the senior slide show or class calender but i don't have any of that to do today so i felt it would be a good idea to post on my very much neglected blog. this post will have no order and so i will write down whatever pops into my mind. not to terribly much has happened this year. yearbook has been crazy busy, we turned in our first deadline yesterday so we're having a party today. i got a job! i work everyday, or everyday i'm able to. i get paid well and work about an hour a day. (they close at 5 and i can't get there till after 4.) i do filing and odd jobs. i am becoming a vegetarian. i watched Food Inc. and am now kinnda grossed out by meat. i plan to stick with it but considering i typically don't with these types of things, we'll see if it lasts. i'm also doing it for health reasons so i'm going to try. i don't really have any pictures to post, i haven't had much time to take any. i did while we were camping and i finished all of my polaroids, but that's it. I got my senior pictures done and they are AMAZING. Michelle Meisner did a fantastic job. i'm sure there are tons of other things that i can't think of, so for now adios.

so do ya remember way back when? when i made a list of things i was going to do this summer? well since one thing i said i'd do (blog more) didn't happen, i will now be telling you the things i accomplished on said list, and did not.
first, i said have a garage sale, that was done and successful.
second, put up pictures in my room. that didn't happen. i ended up redoing my room and am in the process of finishing. my hopes were to get it done before school started but that didn't happen.
third, take more pictures. i'd like to think i took more pictures. i tried to remember to bring my camera with me everywhere and make sure i took a few shots of what i was doing.
fourth, get a tan. well that didn't happen as well as i'd hoped. i got a slight tan but it's not that noticeable.
fifth, read lots. that really didn't happen. i read a couple of books but not nearly as much as i usually do in the summer.
sixth, get healthy. well i started. and i'm restarting tomorrow. seeing as in the summer it's hard to get in the routine of things since we travel so much, but now that school is starting it will be easier.
seventh, learn new song, nope.
eighth, spontaneous trip. i took a spur of the moment trip to lousisiana for a day and a half.
ninth, scrapbook, still didn't happen.
tenth, made a stop motion video.
eleventh, bought the polaroid film!!! one of the best things ever.
twelfth, i learned all there is to know about my diana.
thirteenth, i did not make a purse but i did buy the things for it so i'm half way there.
fourteenth and fifteenth also did not happen. read all the HP books and blog more.
in the very near future i hope to do lots of blogging about our trips and other things.
so tomorrow is the first day of school and i have a weird feeling about it as always. i have an anxious, nervous, excited, annoyed, happy feeling. i mean, it is my senior year. what do ya expect? but i know how tonight will go, the same as it does every year. it will take me forever to go to sleep and then when i finally do, i'll wake up every hour and a half. i hate it but it always happens to me when something is happening the next day. so now i shall go forth and prepare for tomorrow. there isn't really anything i have to do. so i'll probably watch Glee. tomorrow begins my senior year. my last year of high school. weird.

I may or may not have slacked off a lot and not blogged pretty much at all this summer. More like may. We are now nearing the last threeish weeks remaining of summer. It's depressing but very exciting at the same time. This is the first year I am actually excited for school to begin. I'm ready to begin my senior year, I'm taking classes that interest me, and it's the beginning of the end. Which I guess the last part is redundant but I'm just really excited. I don't have my schedule yet but when we get back in town I'll find out for sure what I'm taking.
So the things that have happened this summer, I spent the first two weeks doing nothing. I hung out with friends a bit, then at the end of the two weeks we had a garage sale, I then went to Louisiana for two days, and continued on to Galveston for our family trip at the beach. After that I did nothing for a week and then the four of us went to Denver. We went for dad's ISTE technology conference. JC and I helped to present at the Think(ED), formerly known as SchoolCenter, booth, that was an interesting experience. I was super nervous to speak in front of people, it's not a favorite thing of mine. After the conference we went to the mountains and such then we returned home. And so I've spent the last three weeks busy hanging out with friends. I also did a shoot for a friend of mine. I have A LOT of photos to post from both trips and the shoot. We leave for Louisiana tomorrow so when I get back I shall do so! I'm looking forward to seeing family I haven't seen in a couple of years and other family I see often. I always enjoy spending time with my family, they are a huge part of my life.
I got two new cameras! I bought a Kodak Instamatic and a Kodak No 2A Brownie, neither one are really worth anything but I like them anyways. The Brownie is from the early 1900s which is really cool to me. Sometime in the beginning of June I bought Polaroid film which made be so unbelievably happy. Each photo is a little piece of me. There are only two so far. And one disappeared in Denver which is really depressing. I am trying to take pictures sparingly considering how expensive film is.
To explain the title I have been watching Bones on Netflix, the names of the title for each show always describes where the victim is found and similar to above. Anyways I know I'm not dead but I can pretty much be found behind my camera all the time this summer. Or pretty much just all the time. I was hanging out with my friend Andrew the other day, we went to get cupcakes, I pulled out my camera and took a picture, he then asked "Do you ever leave your house without your camera? I can't imagine that you do." It made me laugh, but I liked it.
I still have to pack and do lots of cleaning in my room, plus a little laundry to attend to. So I'll probably continue to put that off for another couple of hours and spend more time watching Bones and doing nothing on Facebook.

Well it is the second day of summer. I started day one off by watching Heroes all morning, getting a haircut, and spending the evening with friends. Day two included extravaganza all morning, more Heroes, and then I spent the last thirty minutes drowning out the world with my ipod and took some time to myself. I took pictures in the backyard. There is not much back there to photograph but I got some stuff. It had been awhile since I picked up my camera. I have been discouraged lately because all of my plans I had hoped for this summer photography wise fell through. With all of that and added stress and sadness of other things it resulted in me becoming lazy and neglecting my camera. But I decided it was just stupid to stop taking pictures, I won't get any better by doing that. You only get better by taking more, I read a great blog post awhile back about that. Plus it is only the beginning of the summer so who knows what will happen and if nothing does then there is always next year. Anyways, here are some of the photos I took tonight.

And summer is here! This school year went by the fastest of them all. My junior year has been like no other. I was busy with clubs, activities, and homework. I grew to love photography even more than I could imagine. I lost friends and gained new ones. This has probably been the most tear filled year but that doesn’t matter, I survived and life goes on. Senior year is soon to come and I'm ready to leave high school with a bang. More importantly I have an exciting summer ahead. Mostly my plans consist of trips with family, which are my favorite kind. Other than that I have a lot of free time and to any photographers in OKC looking for an intern, I’d be more than happy to help!
On another note, I always have goals each summer but maybe if I post them I'll actually get them done! Here are just a few, I’ll probably add more as I go.

i enjoy thrift store shopping,
i like finding somthing unexpected.
somthing someone else didn't want,
and falling in love with it.
well, we have a goodwill right around the corner from our house,
which is nice for me.
i went today to find an ugly christmas sweater for friday,
and of course had to browse to see if there were any good deals.
while looking at the tech stuff i happened to see a little black box.
i tryed not to get my hopes up,
and then, it hit me. i had finally found a polaroid camera.
it was all i could do from jumping up and down and yelling.
i decided at that point i should check the price, seeing as i still needed to buy a sweater, and i only brought 10 dollars.
the sticker said 3. it was a miracle.
on top of that it was yellow sticker day, %50 off.
it was a miracle x2!
i had a found a polaroid camera
at an affordable price. dirt cheap actually.
now i'm anxious to find out if it actually works.
i reeeeeally want to go get film. now. but i will wait.
i ahve wanted one for awhile
but haven't found one (other than online) that i actually wanted.

okay so i was lazy and went back to sleep, i didn't take a walk this morning. i'm still grieving over my camera. sad sad day. poor Lindsey. yes, she has a name.
so i spent most of my day writing a stupid DBQ and essay for APUSH. my worst enemy.
i have a headache, and i am SO glad there is only 2 days of school this week.
i am ready for the family, conversations, food, love and everything else that comes with thanksgiving. holidays are my favorite. other than the fact there's no school:]
today has been a fairly blah day, with not much to update about.
i get to finish my DBQ tomorrow and that's probably it, other than going to school.
maybe it will be rainy and i can get some pictures. or not.

Sad sad day. I went to Baker photo and video today to see about getting my camera fixed. They did a workshop for our yearbook over the summer, they were amazingly helpful and nice. But they couldn't fix my camera, and so now it has to be sent in to Canon. And i won't get it back for about 4 weeks.
Thankfully dad said i can use his though.
At this moment i am thinking i will go for a walk in the morning, it has been a crazy, hard, and stressful 2 weeks. And i need a break. Time to think. And the best way for me to think is to take pictures.
I'm watching snl right now. I never know what time it's on so i always miss it. I have an essay and a dbq i need to start on tomorrow.
I have decided i for sure want to do great things when i get older. I don't know what though.

Yearbook is one big family,

i slept in.

and started getting ready for fiddler on the roof.

i stayed the night at my mimi's house last night.
today we had a very very busy day.
it started out with sleeping in until 10.
after that we decided to go see a movie,
Coco avant Chanel,
before the movie, we stopped at neighborhood walmart to get snacks for the movie. (see Stanley above) then we actually saw the movie, which was absolutely amazing.
next we went to Pier one,
where i imagined i owned my own apartment and had thousands of dollars to spend to decorate my newly bought home, and i fell deeply in love with a painting of the Eiffel tower (looks better in person), that the people behind us in line bought. which made me sad.
after that we went to texas roadhouse,
then i went home, where we watched our weekly shows.
then i did lots and lots of dishes.
my mom gave me a lovely box of chocolate covered cookie dough because i had a really bad week, and here i sit on the computer, blogging.
after, i will probably be going to watch much ado about nothing.
and then sleep!

i'm done with high school. with the drama, the immature people, and everything in between.
today hasn't been the best of all days. i got in a fight with my best friend.
i could have either a. not said anything and then let it continue building inside me. or b. said what i did and got it out. i'm still mad and all that jazz. everything was perfect freshman and the first semester of sophomore year, it went down hill from there. and has just gotten worse. i've run out of things to do. i don't know. i hold on because i love her to death, and it would be like never talking to my sister again, but i don't think she feels the same way. the tiniest problem is if i let go, who do i have to go to? i don't really have any friends outside of her. i have yearbook and orchestra, but i don't really have any super close friends in there. enough of the yuckyness.
i wanted to get out and relieve stress by taking pictures but instead had to do homework all afternoon, i watched project runway with my mom too.
on top of a really bad day, my car got egged. fabulous.
i took this picture like two weeks ago before our orchestra concert. i walked out to my car without my camera because i had no plans to take pictures. well, the moment i walked outside, i walked back in and grabbed it.
i love a good sunset.

I'm so stinkin tired. Tired of the drama and the fact i've been through it before. And i'm just straight up tired.
I was a good day, light hanging, home depot, project runway, little ceasers, monk, music man, and a UFO. And that is my day in 14 words.

I got two big complements today, my favorite kind too, photog. My close friend sarah, is a senior this year. They have to make a senior portfolio for english, and she is a big bowler. She had no pictures of herself and asked if i would take some. Actually, it was more like. "WAIT! You're a photographer! Can you take pictures of me bowling?" And of course, i said yes. The shoot went smooth, short and sweet. She only needed like 3 or 4 good pictures. Might post those within the next couple of days.
My second compliment today was while at the bowling alley, a girl in my math class was there. I went over, said hi, asked if she had done the math homework yet, blah, blah. She then asks if i was taking pictures of sarah. She said she loves my pictures, and they are amazing, that i inspire her. This made me happy:]
This will be a busy busy weekend. But i'm pumped. Tomorrow night we have a game, it's senior night, meaning pictures pictures and more pictures. Then saturday morning i have NHS volunteering, the music man: snu's musical, and then the rest of snu's homecoming events. Sunday we have church and lunch, then sleep.

i have been photo shopping 2 photos.
the pioneer woman set up a weekly assignment, texture.
i decided to spend some time adding texture to a picture.
i started out with one and was going to add it to the flickr group, but felt like it wasn't enough, so i did another one.
i find it funny it took so long to work on just 2 photos.
i'm not much of a photo shop person. i prefer the lighten a little, sometimes make one black and white, burn the edges type, of photos, but never spend this long on only 2 photos. but since i'm suppose to be going out of the box, this is what i came up with.

all of the photos used were ones i'd taken before. i decided not to take ones special for this.

well it's not much of a project but it's an idea.
it'll take a couple of weeks though and hopefully it'll be amazing.
i'm calling it the fall project. creative right? ;]
so jc and i were driving home from school and i yelled (rather loudly) look!!! the leaves have started changing!!!
fall is definitely my favorite season.
then as i was driving home from the library i really looked at the leaves, trees, and our street as a whole and had an idea.
so i ran inside, grabbed my camera, and went for a walk.
i'm not going to reveal everything but, will give you a sneak peek.
just uploaded, fresh off the press!

i love the details. the criss-cross texture on the acorn, puddle of water on the leaf, the bokeh, contrast of the green, and the leaves tinged in red. i can't wait for the finale!

wow. i was looking at a great blog, http://www.paperpony.net/ and i was thinking about how i love her pictures, because she is really creative. the diana+ pictures are some of my favorites. i love imperfections, to the max. i don't see why people always have to have everything exact and straight and this and that. i especially don't understand perfection in what is suppose to be your creative outlet. try something different this week. go outside of the box.
that's my goal as well. i don't always do that, and i really try. there shouldn't be rules for photography or music or knitting or whatever else you can think of. it's how you feel about what you create, not what others think.

i did not actually achieve my goal. but this week and last have been ridiculously crazy. i'm not making excuses, just stating facts.
anyways my dad give me some good advice last week, "don't look at it as work, have fun." and i don't think i look at it as work, and it's not that i'm blocked. i just have the wrong attitude about it.
so basically, be happy with everything you do.

i also thought that i would add that i am about the happiest i have been in awhile.
one of my absolute fav photogers complimented me today, i'm sure it didn't mean much to him. but it means A LOT to me. i am inspired by the photos he takes. or well, posts. considering i just follow his blog. haha. anyways. i am absolutely blissful at the moment.

i will write a story this week.

but i want to make sure it at least gets done.
not a regular story though, a photo story.

jpgmag.com is an amazing website that i use frequently.
it's a great way to meet other photographers,
and to display your work for others to see.

i feel blocked in a way

and i don't really know why.
when i get sent out to take pictures of the exact same thing i did the day before
i get a tad annoyed. for some of the spreads we don't exactly know what type of pictures they want so we're kinnda just going along.

i thank the lord every day for my camera.
the school's camera SUCKS.
i haven't thanked my parents enough for mine.
it's my baby:]

junior year has been ridiculously busy so far.
from all 20 clubs i'm in, plus being junior class vp, homework, jcrew, and yearbook i'm already feeling a bit stressed.
but i wouldn't trade it for the world.
i may complain occasionally, but i don't understand how some kids can just not have anything to do.
my classes are okay right now. math should be interesting, i love the teacher, but she isn't the best at teaching. of course APUSH is killing me. but thats because of coleman. yearbook is fun, but i hate writing captions, and orchestra is not really my favorite. the music is so easy and some of the freshman are just annoying. but thats what i get for choosing yearbook over orchestra.
so i'm basically just writing about nothing right now. haha.
friendships are okay. some people seem to be drifting away but thats because we're all so busy. we're ready to snap at each other over almost nothing. distance doesn't really make the heart grow fonder.
boys. well. i thought that i found a guy i liked but that took a 360. so i'm back to me, myself, and i. which isn't necessarily a bad thing, it would just be kinnda nice. idk.
so i got in a wreck last week. well, a week ago from today.
i'm fine, the other car was fine. i just wasn't paying good enough attention and i was in a big hurry. it seriously scared me to death. no joke. i don't really like turning left anymore. at all. some peoples reaction to said wreck aggravated me. thankfully i didn't get a ticket or anything. the car is fixable and my parents were okay with it. it seriously did scare me to death though.
then dad had an accident the day before that. which was interesting. plus he bought a motorcycle. which i haven't rode yet. it makes me really nervous. and my wreck adds to that nervousness, i don't exactly know why. but i'm not in any hurry to ride it.

louisiana trip

very exciting. we spent lots of time with family and ate had as always, had fun. i always love being there. here are some photos i took.

this was actually before the trip. maddy always sits in the car while my dad packs up our suitcases, so i took some pics of her.

there is a story behind this feeling. my grandparents own a lot of land and my cousins, aunt and i decided to build a fort in a cluster of trees at the back of their property. we had windows, a bench, and this sign. it didn't last for too terribly long. one visit my uncles and dad were trying to burn the pasture and it jumped the line and got into the forest. every firetruck in the area came. it wasn't THAT bad. anyways papa grabbed our scraps of a fort and we haven't rebuilt it for some reason.

there once was a girl, and she was a flower. she had a best friend that was a hippie. they both loved each other ever so much, and had no clue what they would do without each other. the hippie loved her flower very much, even through the boys, tears, and fights. she is a beautiful, smart and amazing person, er flower. they have never ending inside jokes, can finish each others sentences, and will be together for life. the hippie missed her flower ever so much. there is so much more the hippie could say but then this would take forever and is sure you're already bored. the end.

okay, yes i am joking. mom, i know your probably the only one who reads this. anyways, these are all of my pictures from this summer so far. starting from the beginning. i just hope i don't miss anything...

okay so this my friend christy's horse. isn't he cute? anyways, the rest are all from the stables.

and now for more recent pictures. jc and i went on the train to dallas. i took some on the train, at the art museum, portraits of my cousins, and then more on the train. (almost done!)

okay so they had a really cool kids center at the museum and they had rubbings (this is sam's)

plus this weird tv screen thingy. basically a piece of plastic and when you held it up in front of the screen, it showed up like this...

i'll post the pictures of the girls seperatly. they deserve their own post. they're my first portraits. so at least i think so. :]

this was through the window. i think it gives it a nice hazy look.

I'm at OSU with my dad today. He has been doing physics-y research up here. This has been a heck of a summer. I’ve been gone from home a lot. First was our immediate family vacation to Gun Barrel City in Texas. We went to a lake house that had a pool and all that jazz. We had SO much fun. As always. Next I went home with nana and papa for 2 weeks, a little of this and a little of that. Had a lot of fun, again. Then was the Jones family reunion at camp bond, I had my first near death experience. It was an interesting trip. Fun nevertheless. And last was Dallas with the Wrights, filled with laughs and more fun. We went to Six Flags, the Dallas Museum of Art, and the dollar theater twice. I saw my first movie at a theater alone. Very exciting. Anyways, we leave for LA on Sunday, most likely. I’m excited for more photographic opportunities! I got a lot of good pictures on our reunion and in Dallas, I did my first portraits. I finally have them all uploaded and ready to post! So I’ll do that either tonight or tomorrow. I swear. I’m hoping to do some shots at the pool while in LA. I wanna buy a cheap-o water proof camera from Wal-Mart and experiment. I’ll let you know how that works out for me.
So I’ve been looking at lenses and such today. I’m ready for Christmas so that I can get one. There is no way I can buy one right now, so I have to wait. Eh, it'll be here before I know it. With all 50 bajillion things I’m doing next semester, I’ll keep busy. Wow. This summer went by too fast. I know we still have 3 weeks or whatever but I have so much to do between now and then. Louisiana, summer reading, and garage sale. I might pull my hair out. Okay not really. But still.

Mandy is my uncle rick's dog and absolutly a beautiful dog. She won't sit still long enough to take a picture though, but i managed to get one or two good ones.

Breathtaking sunset at the drive in movies. In foreground is cars and giant screen sihloetted. I love the clouds, they give it a diffrent depth, and i also love the variety of colors. Sihloettes are my favorite and i also love sunsets. This is a two in one kinnda deal!

Today was like any normal day. I stayed with mimi and helped her buy groceries, watched movies, finished a book. Nothing really thrilling. But today was also a significant day. Today was the day i truly realized i'm not a little kid anymore. I'm a 17 year old, pretty, nice, smart, junior in high school who has an annoying voice, bites her nails, loves taking pictures and enjoys playing music. And i'm happy with that, happy with being single, loving her family and being a loud random dork. I'm not the 7 year old singing along with her cassette in the backyard, pretending to be on a stage anymore. I'm going to have to start making important decisions, like a job or college, not to far off in the future. Not yet, but it will be here before i know it. And i'm not to terribly comfterable with that. I just have to keep my eyes on God and remember he has a plan for me.

So obviously my whole photo blog hasn't started yet since i haven't posted any pics yet. Ah well. Excuse all my typing errors. So i'm going to try to sleep now. Good night!

Well I decided I was going to start a photography blog, considering I'm into photography now. I think that would deffinatly make sense. I'll probably post my random thoughts as well sometimes.
